What Goes Into An Escape Room Design?

Pushing boundaries is in the DNA of every successful business, especially in the food and entertainment industry.  Take restaurants for example.  Has your favorite restaurants ever updated the menu and removed the most popular dishes?  It seems illogical until you realize that the chef’s goal was to continually raise the bar of excellence.  Staying with the popular, yet old, menu is the safe option…but great restaurants and great escape rooms aren’t the ones normally taking the safe route.

That’s why after only 13 months of operation, we’re changing out 50% our escape rooms for new designs.  Our rooms have proven to be very popular and successful…just look at the Google reviews...but we’re in the mood to shake things up and see how we can take Awesome and make it Awesomer. (Yes, we know that’s not a real word…or is it?)

Opening new rooms is one of the pleasures of owning an escape room business.  There’s so much exciting activity that goes into the design of a new room.  We partner with the best artists and tradesmen from across the country to bring you the absolute best designs.

Putting together an escape room is easy…. Creating a GREAT escape room requires the top designers, confident investment and a bit of divine intervention.

As we discussed in a previous blog, a GREAT escape room takes an entire village of artisans to complete.  Some are obvious and some may surprise you:

  • Enigmatologists to provide the puzzle design
  • Storytellers to make the adventure engaging
  • Set Design & Special Effects Experts to create the most immersive experience
  • Carpenters to transition the vision to reality
  • Electricians to bring the creation to life
  • Software Engineers to give the design a brain
  • An Understanding Banker to help pay for it all

In the end, everything needs to come together to provide a holistic creation that’s engaging, immersive, and generally awesomer.  Players need to leave with an adrenaline inspired smile on their face.

Here’s where you can help.  Give us your thoughts and opinions on escape room designs.
  • Let us know what you liked/disliked about our current rooms.
  • Is there something about a room you played in Helsinki that inspired you?
  • Did you dream about a great escape room idea after eating some bad sushi?

We don’t care where the idea came from, just share it with us so we can raise the bar.
Thanks and stay tuned for more information in the coming months!

Stay Awesomer!
